• Foam core board

• Pencil

• Stencils or templates of Halloween shapes

Step 1: Decide on your Halloween DIY décor shapes and cut out

Here we’ve created a pumpkin, ghost, werewolf and devil glow decorations. You can draw your own designs or find printable templates online. If drawing isn’t your forte, don’t worry! There are plenty of free stencils available that you can print and use.

Lay the stencil or template over the foam core. Use a pencil to trace the outline of your shape onto the board. Make sure to press lightly to avoid denting the foam.

Place the foam core on a cutting mat or another safe surface. Using a craft or utility knife, carefully cut along the pencil lines. Take your time to ensure smooth, clean edges. For intricate designs, use a smaller blade for better control.

Always cut away from your body and keep your fingers clear of the blade’s path. Wear protective gloves if you’re using a utility knife for added safety. To give your shapes a polished look, gently sand the edges with fine-grit sandpaper. This step is optional but recommended for a professional finish.

Step 2: Paint your Halloween DIY décor shapes

In a well-ventilated workspace, lay down newspaper or a drop cloth to protect your surfaces from paint. Wear protective gloves and a mask to avoid inhaling fumes and to keep paint off your skin.

Now comes the fun part… painting! COLORSHOT Lightning Bug Glow Spray Paint will give your glow decorations a spooky, luminous effect. Shake the can of COLORSHOT Lightning Bug Glow Spray Paint well before use. Hold the can about 12 inches away from the foam core shapes and apply a light, even coat. Avoid oversaturating the foam, as this can cause warping. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat for a more vibrant glow. After painting, let your shapes dry completely in a well-ventilated area.

Step 3: Glue down glow shapes onto foam core backgrounds

Use glue to adhere your glowing eyes and mouths to larger Halloween DIY décor foam core shapes.

Step 4: Activate glow effects on Halloween DIY décor and display!

To activate the glow effect on your glow spray paint decorations, place your shapes under direct light for several hours. The longer they’re exposed to light, the brighter and longer they’ll glow in the dark.

Not that your glowing Halloween DIY décor shapes are ready, it’s time to display them! Hang them on walls, windows, or trees or place them in your yard. Get creative with your placement to maximize their spooky appeal.
