Create stencils for the garden stepping stones
For this project, Oh Yay Studio created their own floral stencil for their colorful garden stepping stones! To make a stencil, create the design on paper, then trace the design onto an acetate sheet and carefully cut with a craft knife. Alternately, you can use a premade stencil for this project— just make sure it fits the size of your pavers.
Select COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint shades
Select which COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint shades you want to use for your garden stepping stones. Oh Yay Studio is using a cool blue palette consisting of Island Girl, Mermaid, Scuba, and Stamped Passport as base colors, plus Head in the Clouds for the stenciled design. Ensure your concrete patio pavers are clean and dry before you start painting.
Apply base colors to garden stepping stones
Place the concrete patio pavers onto a drop cloth in a well-ventilated area to protect from overspray. If you’re spray painting in your yard, you can skip the drop cloth as long as you don’t mind getting paint on the grass! Shake the can well and apply spray paint to your garden stepping stones in smooth, even strokes. Allow the paint to dry to the touch before applying additional coats as desired.
Place stencil and apply Head in the Clouds spray paint
Place the stencil onto the painted concrete patio paver, ensuring it lays completely flat. Apply an even coat of Head in the Clouds to the paver and allow it to dry to the touch before applying a second coat.
Remove stencil and repeat with each concrete patio paver
After you’ve applied a second coat of paint, carefully remove the stencil from your painted concrete patio paver. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to add floral designs to all of your garden stepping stones.
Apply sealer to each concrete patio paver
Once all of your garden stepping stones are painted, apply a coat of COLORSHOT Clear Sealer Glossto each concrete patio paver for an extra durable finish.
