Before you start on this project, make sure your doormats are clean and free of any dirt and debris. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and to cover your work surface to protect it from any overspray. To create a galaxy doormat, begin spray painting your doormat by layering shades of blue, purple, and pink. For this DIY doormat, Mister Larrie used Center Stage, Clear Skies, and Cosmo. Feel free to experiment with the different shades of color that COLORSHOT has to offer!
Allow the paint to dry completely, then add some finishing touches to your galaxy DIY doormat with some white paint. This creates a beautiful starry effect! The fine tip on Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paints is perfect for painting on the starry accents.
To make the rainbow DIY doormat, first apply painter’s tape to the edges of the doormat to create crisp, unpainted lines.
Select which rainbow colors you’ll be using and begin to paint your DIY doormats! We used Stiletto, Orange Slice, Emoji, With A Twist, Clear Skies, Center Stage, and Cosmo. Apply several light coats of paint until desired coverage is achieved, letting dry in between coats. Be sure to apply spray paint in smooth, even strokes for best results.
Allow the paint to dry completely, then carefully remove the painter’s tape. Your colorful custom DIY doormats are now ready to display!
