Before you make your DIY mushroom table set, lightly sand surfaces to be painted and ensure your garden furniture is clean, dry, and free of dust or debris. Place the furniture onto a drop cloth or other protective surface cover to protect from overspray. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area.
Prepare your mushroom table for painting by covering the legs with painter’s tape to protect them from overspray. Alternately, you can remove the table’s legs entirely— just remember to set aside any hardware for reassembly later!
Add circle-shaped vinyl decals to the tabletop, pressing firmly to ensure they’re properly adhered to the surface. Use a variety of sizes to give your mushroom table its iconic spots!
We’re using COLORSHOT in Stiletto to give this mushroom table its bold red color, just like a fly agaric mushroom! Shake the can well for at least 1 minute, then apply spray paint in smooth, even strokes. Allow the paint to dry for a few minutes before applying additional coats of spray paint for desired coverage.
We love the colorful chairs in this garden furniture set, so instead of painting over them entirely, we’re giving them matching mushroom spots! Disassemble the chairs and apply a vinyl decal with circle-shaped cutouts to each seat.
Use painter’s tape to cover the outer edges of each seat. This will protect the sides from any overspray.
We’re using COLORSHOT White Primer to paint the mushroom spots on this garden furniture. Shake the can well, then apply spray paint in smooth, even strokes. Allow the paint to dry for a few minutes before applying additional coats of spray paint, then seal with COLORSHOT Clear Sealer Gloss.
Once the paint has dried completely, carefully remove all the painter’s tape and vinyl decals from your mushroom table and chairs. A small craft knife is useful for peeling off the vinyl.
