How To Spray Paint Metal with COLORSHOT

Spray paint is a quick and easy way to give items a whole new look without spending a ton of money or effort. If you're wondering how to spray paint metal to get the best results, we have some super simple tips for you using COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint for head-turning color that lasts.

What you need:

- COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint (we used Stiletto)

- Metal item

- Drop cloth or protective plastic covering

- Painter's tape (optional)

Metal bucket before

Make sure your item is clean and free of any dust. To create a cool half & half design like we did, try using painter's tape to mask off your shape. You'll want to cover over any part of the item that you aren't painting to protect from overspray. (We like using heavy paper or plastic or even more tape.)

Metal bucket after

If the metal you are working with isn't shiny, you can jump right into painting. If it's shiny, first spray a basecoat of primer onto the metal item to create a smooth base your color can adhere to. Let your base dry, then spray several light coats of color over it, letting dry between coats. Tip: shake the can vigorously for at least 1 minute before beginning to apply color, then continuously shake the can of spray paint while applying color for best results.

When you are happy with your coverage, remove the tape and let dry completely.
