What you need:

COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints (This project uses Aromatherapy, Orange Slice, and Farmer’s Daughter)

Door

Painter’s tape

Kraft paper

Drop cloth or protective surface cover

Prepare the door for painting

Select which colors you’d like to use for this painted door project. We’re using Aromatherapy, Orange Slice, and Farmer’s Daughter for a bright color blocked palette! Prepare your door for this project by removing any hardware. Take the door off its hinges and work in a well-ventilated area or cover the surrounding area with painter’s tape and a drop cloth if you cannot remove the door.

Step 1 - Create the first section with kraft paper and tape

Create the first section with kraft paper and tape

Create an abstract color blocked design by spray painting the door in sections. Use painter’s tape and kraft paper to create the first triangle-shaped section on the bottom part of the door and cover the adjacent area to protect from overspray.

Step 2 - Apply the first color to the painted door

For the first section of the color block painted door, we’re using Aromatherapy, a soft periwinkle shade. Shake the can well for at least one minute. Hold the can upright 6"-10" from surface and apply paint to this first section in smooth, even strokes. Once the first coat of paint has dried to the touch, apply a second coat of spray paint.

Once the second coat of paint has dried to the touch, carefully peel off the tape and cover the painted area with kraft paper and painter’s tape. Apply more tape and paper to create the second section of your color block painted door.

Step 4 - Apply the second color to the painted door

We’re using Orange Slice to add some contrast to the second section of our color block painted door. Shake the can well for at least one minute. Hold the can upright 6"-10" from surface and apply paint to the second section in smooth, even strokes. Once the first coat of paint has dried to the touch, apply a second coat of spray paint.

Step 5 - Create a third section with kraft paper and paint

Once the second coat of paint has dried to the touch, carefully peel off the tape and cover the painted area with kraft paper and painter’s tape. Apply more tape and paper to create the third section of your color block painted door.

Step 6 - Apply the third color to the painted door

For the final section of our color block painted door, we’re using Farmer’s Daughter, a sweet pink shade to tie it all together. Shake the can well for at least one minute. Hold the can upright 6"-10" from surface and apply paint to the third section in smooth, even strokes. Once the first coat of paint has dried to the touch, apply a second coat of spray paint.

Step 7 - Let the color block painted door dry

Reveal!

Once the paint has dried to the touch, carefully remove all the kraft paper and tape from your painted door and reveal your vibrant color blocked design! Allow the paint to dry completely before re-installing the door in your home.
